Last week, we at Office Reality attended 100% Design at Earl’s Court London. The exhibition saw designs and products from a huge range of manufacturers and companies in the interiors industry, from commercial to domestic. Being a dealer of office furniture and café furniture, we focused on these products.
We found one interesting product that is set to be manufactured this December is a small piece of cable management called the Pluto. The Pluto is a round piece of cable management that contains 2 USB ports that has high power charging facilities that can fully charge an iPhone or Blackberry within 50 minutes and an iPad within 4 hours. The Pluto also has 2 plug sockets inset in the unit. The product was being tested and people were asked to comment on which materials were best to manufacture and where the unit should be placed, for example, mounted on the desk, café table, a chrome column or on the side of chairs.
We live in an age where technology is ever increasingly evolving and with that we could see units like this in cafes and bars as they are becoming a place for people to work and access the internet.
100% Design also saw the unveiling of YO! Home, a concept conceived by Simon Woodroffe, the founder of YO! Sushi and YOTEL. Inspired by Woodroffe’s previous experience as a rock show stage designer combined with what he learnt from space designing in YOTEL, the apartment squeezes all the characteristics from a two bedroom house into a one bedroom apartment.
The YO! Homecan be transformed by pulling a wall or flicking a button. A bedroom can pop down from the ceiling over a lounge area to transform it into a master bedroom. This is just one of the amazing feature available in the YO! Home.
