To have motivation to work when sitting on your office swivel chair at your office desk for eight hours, or even longer, of the day can prove very hard. For 90% of the time you are in a stationary position so there is no surprise that most of us leave feeling mentally drained.
This feeling can be avoided by just a few small actions throughout your day to make you feel a bit more satisfied when working at your office desk. These little things can help and you don’t even have to leave your desk so it is well worth having a look at.
Firstly it can be quite beneficial to get into the right frame of mind when starting your work. It could be good for you to read resources such as blogs that may challenge your mind. You don’t necessarily have to agree with what has been said, but it is good to gain a different perspective.
Music is a powerful tool even when sitting at your desk. If you have a few tunes or perhaps an album then perhaps turn it on when you start to feel demotivated. This will pick up your mood and get you motivated again.
Set goals for yourself. This maybe an obvious one, but keep them visible like pinned to your office desktop screen. If they are easily seen then when seeing them you can keep yourself motivated.
Make sure that your work area is visually stimulating; however it is important that you don’t go overboard and create a workspace that is distracting! Surround yourself with visuals such as a calendar or a family photo so that your desk area doesn’t look bleak and depressing.
